Registrar of Voters (2022–2023)

First Selectman Sandra Pierog
Sandy served two terms as First Selectman in the 1980s, rejoined the Board of Selectmen as a regular member in 2013, and was elected to consecutive terms as First Selectman beginning 2017. In 2022, Sandy was appointed Bolton’s assistant Democratic registrar of voters and became registrar upon the retirement of James Dwire in March 2022.
She was Chairman of the Heritage Farm Commission from 2006 to 2017. In that role, she co-managed Heritage Farm weekends in 2011 and 2013, was chair of the Bolton Farmers Market for five years and was instrumental in obtaining more than $100,000 in grants for renovations and maintenance of the Heritage Farm property.
Sandy’s wide-ranging experience and service to Bolton also includes past seats on the Board of Finance (on which she was vice chair) and the Senior Citizens Committee. She is a past President of the Bolton Women’s Club, a founding member of the Bolton Land Trust, and a member of the Friends of the Rose Farm.
Sandy is a CPA with more than 30 years experience in public accounting with an income tax specialty, providing creative solutions to business and personal tax issues for a variety of clients from nonprofits, entrepreneurs to global corporations. She was a member of the first class of Certified Connecticut Municipal Officials, receiving that designation in 2018 from the CT Conference of Municipalities.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and a master of science in taxation from the University of Hartford.
Sandy was raised in Bolton and attended Bolton schools. She and her husband Ernie raised their three sons in Bolton. In her spare time, Sandy can be found advocating for and teaching boating safety, playing her ukulele or serving on other nonprofit boards.
