Richard Tuthill

Richard is an engineer whose career has been spent largely at Pratt & Whitney and GE. A town resident for 48 years, he also spent several weeks of every summer in Bolton while growing up.

Richard has long been active in Bolton civic affairs, serving as past president of both the Bolton Youth Soccer Association and Bolton Little League Baseball; as member and chair of the Superintendent’s Education Advisory Committee; as vice chair and acting chair of the Bolton Town Hall Study Committee; as vice chair of the Bolton Heritage Farm Stewardship Committee; and as a member of the Charter Revision Commission.

Currently principal with RST Associates, LLC, Richard is a former manager of advanced engine programs at Pratt & Whitney and a former principal engineer at GE. He has fourteen combustion-related patents to his name and is past chairman of the Gas Turbine Association, the EU Industrial Emissions Directive Committee of the European Turbines Network, and the Electric Power Committee of the International Gas Turbine Institute.

Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics (with a minor in physics) from Clarkson University and a master’s in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic University. He met his wife, Dorothy, while teaching high school mathematics as a Peace Corps volunteer in Swaziland. They raised their two sons in Bolton. Richard enjoys skiing, kayaking, and UCONN football and hockey.
