Anne Decker

Zoning Board of Appeals (2019–2023)

Version 2

Anne Decker

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Anne found her way to Bolton through her husband, Steve Toomey, whom she met when they both attended Bates College in Maine. Their route from Maine to Bolton detoured to Washington, D.C., and Virginia, where Anne worked as a marketing professional at the law firm of Arnold & Porter and at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. They moved north to the New York City area for a few years before deciding to move closer to Steve’s family in Bolton. They built their house—an ultra-low-energy Passive House—on family land.

Anne’s volunteer work has straddled her marketing career and her interest in education. She put her design and communications skills to work for the Darden Partners Association at UVA and the Junior League of Bronxville, NY. She served on the board of directors at the Hebron Center Nursery School and then the board of trustees at the Hans Christian Andersen Montessori School, where she was secretary and chairperson. She is an active member of the Bolton PTA and was co-chair of the Fundraising Committee until she joined the Board of Education in August 2018. In 2019 she was instrumental in organizing the PTA’s first-ever “Throwback Prom.” During her time on the Board of Education from 2018 to 2021, Anne chaired the finance committee.

Anne and Steve have three children, two at Bolton Center School and one at Bolton High School. When she’s not busy volunteering or taking kids to soccer and 4-H, Anne enjoys drinking coffee and playing squash.
